This is AMAZING! Babies are taught to flip over and float if they fall into a pool fully clothed. This would save tons of lives.
This video is for a new survival course for infants and todlers from YMCA. These courses have saved babies from drowning all over Florida. Every infant should take a course like this, especially if you have a pool.

I thought the 5 minutes was a little cruel at first too, but then I thought about it.
Its good for the baby's training; ads dislike of being near the pool and could help keep the baby away from the pool in the first place (though a later-life fear of water could develop, maybe?). Also, the baby could be in there for a while. If its picked up after two seconds of floating each time, it will eventually not see the point of floating for an extended time period.

I guess they were trying to show how long a baby could survive like that to prove it's a good tactic; but baby could still drown and the next step should be teaching him to swim to the nearby staircase and climb up the stairs since 15 min could go by without an adult realizing baby is in trouble; he's beautiful though and smiled the moment he was lifted up. The crying is the best part as it alerts the parent who thinks the baby is asleep in his crib to the fact that he is indeed in the pool.

If you keep watching it shows a little older children swiming a short distance, turning over to float, rest, and breath, then continuing to swin to the pool's edge.

I see the purpose of doing this which is great but that video is crule. Five mintues seams a bit much with the parents right there. That poor thing was crying for help and they just keept rolling. If your so worried about it put up a fence or dont have a pool. For older kids it might be alright but that poor thing was screaming and they just kept going. That was sick.

Did you see the whole video? The baby was never in any danger, and he was obviously fine and smiling afterward. FYI, the baby wasn't really unattended for the video. This kind of training saves children's lives.
