NewDirection4us, it also makes sense. No one is perfect when they die, so there is often a need for expiation. This will sound unfamiliar to you if you also subscribe to the unscriptural and illogical belief in faith alone. Luther said you could kill 1000 people a day and still be saved if you believe. Even a 10 yr old can see the lunacy and incongruence in this. Why take up my cross if Im saved? Why not rape, steal and plunder, but believe? Why did Paul talk about behaviour that excludes? hmmm.

NewDirection4us, in 2 Maccabees 12:46 scripture says: "It is therefore a holy and wholesome thought to pray for the dead, that they may be loosed from their sins". Its irrelevant whether this book is in your bibl or not, it should be but the Heretic luther removed it (as he wanted to do to the Book of James). So purgatory is implied, although the word not used. By the way, can you give me the reference that uses the word 'Trinity"? Hmmm, maybe theres no such thing?? No, it too is implied.

1 Tim 4: 1-2: The Spirit has explicitly said that during the last times some will desert the faith and pay attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines that come from devils.
1 Tim 6: 3-4: Anyone who teaches anything different and does not keep to the sound teaching which is that of our Lord Jesus Christ, the doctrine which is in accordance with true religion, is proud and has no understanding. Rturn to the Catholic church.

By grace alone, not by works! The Catholic Church is described in Revelation. The leaders wear scarlett and purple. The Vatican is in Rome, which sits on 7 hills. The Roman Church is anything but Christ-like who was born in a manger and rejected wealth and riches, unlike the gold and luxury of the Vatican and Pope. Roman Church does not follow the Bible. It is manmade doctrine, not God's. Purgatory is NOT Biblical. True Christians who love Jesus should worship only Jesus, not Catholicism.

Gentleman speaking claimed that 'We by nature are murderers.' And then goes onto say thieves, vagabonds etc.

Sorry would have to refute that on a number of grounds, not the least being that why isn't everyone murdering or thieving from each other etc.

Maranatha, the infallability issue isn't nullified in the face of the prot doctrine of Sola Scriptura. That is, most if not all, prot denominations adhere to Sola Scriptura & EACH HAS ITS PARTICULAR PERSONAL INTERPRETATION! WHAT!? Therefore, each prot denomination follows the teachings of the men who created their respective churches, effectively becomming pseudo popes. Scripture isn't of private intreptation, & only the church is the pillar/foundation of truth. Catholic: the original.

I have to make a correction...I'm not sure about the 1611 version intro. I even read that Maccabees was included in it. But I do remember studying that, and the reasons for the apocropha not being included for a few: some contradicted the rest of scripture (like witchcraft), and inconsistancies like in Maccabees where he dies several different ways. Also, those books were not held as inspired by the early Christians.

guatay, you are misinformed. True Protestant Christians (which do not include JW, Mormons, etc) base all authority on Scripture (i.e. Sola Scriptura...scripture alone), not a preacher/pastor (I'm a Southern Baptist). Secondly, for the reasons for omission of the Deutero-canonical books find any 1611 KJV and it's right there in the intro. And if Catholic leaders of the 16th century had their way, you couldn't read a Bible of any kind in English. Love in Christ.

Prots tore books outa original Bible cuz they cramped prot style. II Maccabees 12:43-45: Judas Machabeus led military victory over Jewish enemies. Aft battle, Judas "sent twelve thousand drachms of silver to Jerusalem for sacrifice to be offered for the sins of the dead, thinking well and religiously concerning the resurrection." And, "It is therefore a holy and wholesome thought to pray for the dead, that they may be loosed from sins." Put that into King James & c what happens to prot doctrine!

Prots deny Cath infallability yet follow prot leaders infallably. Since each prot denomination adheres to teachings of their respective leaders (Luther, Calvin, non-denominational preachers, ect...), those leaders r in effect their popes! Think about it! Prots obey the doctrine of the reformers as well as the johnny-come-lately preachers of the "church of what's happenin now" as if deviating from those teachings is heresy. If u don't think so, just ask a Baptist, JW, Mormon, Lutheran, etc.
