protestant faith is screwed up. i was raised as an evangelical with baptist leanings, and i believed in their teachings, yet i switched to catholic. the true christian church had to exist ever since the apostolic era, and no evangelical or protestant church has existed that long. even if the catholic church is not the true christian church, it doesn't change the fact that no protestant or evangelical church has been around long enough. also the bible is not the only authority for xian doctrine.

it's likely true that peter founded the church in antioch, yet that would be a local church. all those local churches mentioned in the bible were part of the larger church organization. the bishops ordained more bishops, and so forth, continuing the apostolic line. eventually many bishops formed union with the bishop of rome, while other bishops did their own thing.
