Paul & Predestination

Back

Does the doctrine of predestination lead to lazy Christians? In Romans 9 the Apostle Paul shows his true heart for missions and reaching unbelievers with the Gospel, a heart motivated by the doctrine of predestination.

This video clip is taken from the broader context of a sermon entitled "Predestination" which can be found at

Ummm, last time I checked we recieved salvation through faith and not sight. Jesus said its better to not see me and believe. Paul was an enemy of God and the reason Jesus appeared to him was because he was killing christians. It was by the grace of God that Jesus gave Paul a second chance. It has nothing to do with predestination, ultimately paul had to work out his own salvation with fear and trembling. Silly calvanists

Predestination teaches of a loving God who provides redemption for spirtually dead human beings who cannot come to God... why? because they have been tainted by sin: Romans 3, Ephesians 2.

so god purposely predestined some people to hell? what if those people would want to go to heaven? that makes no sense and it is mean of god. why not just let people have a free choice?

Man does have a free will. John 3:319. This is the condemnation, that light has come into the world, but men love darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. We are by nature "God haters". These are the words of Jesus. John 3:19... Man does not have the capacity to know the God of the bible until he is revealed. Total depravity is the condition of every man before the new birth. Satan's greatest tool of today is false religion.John 10:26 is the key. Reason for unbelief = not sheep

Christ came to redeem the world as a whole - that is an eschatalogical promise, not a promise to every individual person. Otherwise, you have just denied everything the bible teaches so clearly about hell.

Absolutely not. My argument was that if God allows us to choose to accept Christ, that is NOT a limitaion of His sovereignty. He allows it to happen, when he might just as well not allow it. My beef is with the argument that allowing us to choose destroys God's sovereignty.

again, the belief of works contradicts what the bible says. and God does not force us to do anything, it is man's nature to sin. we are vile corrupt beings, and all of us deserve to go to hell. Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;" We are the ones who are the sinners, not God. If we do not sin, or do anything good it is the grace of God. Our human nature is our condemnation, NOT God. Romans 11:6 is a good quote telling us there is no works also.

Better yet, read 2 Peter 3:9
