Most or all of these are sucked up by an extra-dimensional defense system which opens a portal and the meteor dissappears somewhere else before it can hit Earth.
The "burning up in the atmhosphere" thing is the cover story they use (which we all blindly belive) to keep you away from the real truth about interdimensional realities/planes of existance and portals on the earth.

That was awesome, I saw some thing similar in Kao Lak, Thailand during a wedding party with about 30 Hong komg guest That also witness it, at about 10pm, but unfortunately I didn't hear anything from it since that day.
