Imo is just placebo effect... but wait... wait... then if im want to feel good after meditation im not meditate at all? I never try meditate but question remain.

"meditation with a preconceived purpose or notion is counter to the practice of meditation" .... which includes expecting to feel positive after finishing. Just go with it, day by day.

i have never heard any monk speak of seeing spirits while meditating.i think music can play a role as long as it is non intrusive.ur right the emptying of the mind is something that can be achieved but meditation with a preconceived purpose or notion is counter to the practice of meditation.ur not a noob its a good question.ur on the right track if ur practice is sincere, simple and if u feel positive result after u finish.
