It's belief in Hinduism that Maya is Goddess like other Gods :wind,Sun,creation,fire etc..
Basically when universe and earth is created billions of years by God concept of Maya was introduced to test Human spiritual progress. In Hinduism ultimate goal of life is to move away from material world (desire,greed etc etc..) to attain nirvana.

I think I get this. I'm studying to teach English as a second language after years of unfulfilled education and boring jobs. I want to get out and meet new people, change and grow. But am I a teacher? Can I get up and command a class? Do I even want to?! Yes, but my moments of fear leave me doubtful. Your end message is true.
