Poncho is of Mexican heritage, not all great congueros are Cuban, look at Giovanni.

I'm pretty sure that Poncho was Cuban born and moved to the US in the late 50's or early 60's. He then became a musician with Mongo Santamaria's (Watermellon Man) band and became the leader of that band when Mongo died in the early 90's. I believe I read all this in the web of Descarga.

I don't know his name but he's sure Cuban like Poncho and probably most of the other musicians.

I am pretty sure Poncho is mexican though. I mean he was born in Texas but both parents are mexican. Thank you anyway bro.
