Tao Te Ching by Lao Tzu (Chapter 25)

Back

I note that Lao Tzu describes God as "Tao" (translated as the "Way"). I further note that Lao Tzu says that Tao could be called "the Mother of all things". And finally, Lao Tzu gives Tao the name "The Great". This is a profound chapter from the Tao Te Ching.

yes i know the sermon on the mount. it's beautiful. But it's not logical according to nature law: survival of the fittest. also ''bless the poor in spirit'' was misused by authoroties to keep the people dumb and under control.
but should we all be like mental handicap patients then? would be we happier than? maybe, but the ability to think is also a gift from the creator in my view. Isnt it right to actually have the ability to choose between good and evil?

Logic is not important. Love is.

if you look at the tai chi. there is yin in yan and yan in yin. if you understand that, you understand everything about tao/dao.

i am a christian and i love my race.
no not in this section is spoken about making your mind empty. but thats also part of the tao che ching. i think listening to the tao is listening and obeying ''god''. or is this connection wrong?

There is no god in the Tao. Don't look for it, It's not there. To call the Tao "god" is foolish. It can't be named.

empty yourself is not the same as knowing nothing. or just say keep an open mind cause there is always a chance that what you think that is right, wrong.

3. Great, it passes on (in constant flow). Passing on, it becomes remote. Having become remote, it returns. Therefore the Tao is great; Heaven is great; Earth is great; and the (sage) king is also great. In the universe there are four that are great, and the (sage) king is one of them.
4. Man takes his law from the Earth; the Earth takes its law from Heaven; Heaven takes its law from the Tao. The law of the Tao is its being what it is.

Chapter 25
1. There was something undefined and complete, coming into existence before Heaven and Earth. How still it was and formless, standing alone, and undergoing no change, reaching everywhere and in no danger (of being exhausted)! It may be regarded as the Mother of all things.
2. I do not know its name, and I give it the designation of the Tao (the Way or Course). Making an effort (further) to give it a name I call it The Great.
