At least one of them is trying to get creative and get out of that boring open third string A-110 "dotted quarter note and an eight note tied to a half note" loop. Check out "Emergence" on iTunes for some amazing solos from Vitous.

I have to admit that repeated motif is pretty lame but it makes it more of a challenge to improvise off of. Listen to the video of "Christian McBride & Niels Pederson-Bye Bye Blackbird" here on You Tube. It's a lot better than this.
