This is a Disney original version of "The Incredible Journey". "Homeward Bound" was later produced for a up-to-date version of this same story.
For those of you that want to see the whole movie, your best bet is to rent it from a video store (VHS is probably the version it is in). I've checked it out from the library, for my children, many times. Ebay sells the VHS version, occasionally. Amazon may have a DVD version now, but not sure. WONDERFUL movie!!

I like the way they go into detail in this old version...I'd like to see the whole thing! (Even though I grew up with the Disney version, Homeward Bound.)

Gaw, a lot of that was horrible. Poor kitty was traumatized in the filming :(
