That's the difference between US and British cars since time began, it seems: American cars are built for drag racing without much concern for handling and European cars handle well, but are anemic under the hood. That said, I have a love for old Astins and Maseratis. I also can't deny the Lotus Elise, Noble M12, or Ariel Atom contributions to the automotive world.

And not all Americans are from New York. Some of us are decent.

well anemic is a bit harsh, many European cars are under-powered, but only those that are for normal day to day use. The European cars we're thought about, making them safe, handle well and good quality products. Typical American cars, Fords (US Fords being different from European ones, Cadillac etc ) as well as Korean cars are churned out to do their job, just get people from A to B. Muscle cars aren't so bad, but i still always found there was something not right about them.

True muscle cars are normally spartan, giving up luxuries for performance and flash. I'm good with that. If you want leather interior and wood accents, buy a luxury car. Most cars don't combine both well.

A lot of Americans have little econoboxes to get to work and around town, and some of us have older project cars for weekend use.

I don't know what the difference between our country's safety standards is, but I believe ours are more strict, making it hard for some foreign cars to enter.

That is an outdated statement the new corvettes handle as good as any European car twice its price
misterinley (November 7, 2008 at 5:57 pm)
i suppose it's worth it... no more, the interior is terrible and the gearbox is a bit of a pig. Took the americans a long time to sort it out, but still only half way there.

There twice the price for a reason, they have twic teh build quality
maclennanld (November 22, 2008 at 12:07 pm)
you will get nowhere near twice the build quality in a European car twice the price that still has comparable performance especially in a British built car, you would be lucky to get the same build quality from a British built car as a corvette with twice the money spent

Henry Phord was a vehement anti-Semite, going so far as to provide monetary support to Hitler during the war. Look up "The International Jew" by Henry Phord.

"Phord"? What the hell, are you a cajun?Or is Phord Phocus the proper spelling.
moparmonster1965 (November 28, 2008 at 2:28 pm)
No, I do that as a sign of disrespect. I don't like Phords; in my experience, they don't last and they aren't well engineered. I've only owned Phords and Chryslers and I'll take the Chrysler any day.

And I have no idea how a Cajun would spell it.
