the whole epistemology is circular and based on a failure to deal with the problem of the external world as I said on the last video. how do we know we have sensory organs if the idea of the brain in the vat/matrix idea has not been dealt with. rather it was just dismissed as irrelevant. we sense "things" which we then interpret. some one like Derrida's would completely dismantle rand at this point. and yes taking apart peoples assumptions does threaten them because most have not faced the dark

Thank you very much for giving examples of the concepts that you talk about.

A contradiction is something that occurs during the process of interpretation (of reality). It is by definition a misinterpretation of reality. Reality does not interpret itself (unless you think "reality" is self-aware [whatever that would mean].

I didn't feel insulted, merely giving another angle on your thought. Intellectual pursuits are, to me at least, very fun. I completely disagree with your assesment of anarchocapitalism, but that's not the point of this particular argument, is it? My career was not all at one location, nor even in just one state. I've travelled extensively in the US and a bit outside of it, and done a LOT of things in my life.

I find that I am able to do a great many things that my contemporaries, having led relatively sedate and unexamined lives, find extraordinary in a man not yet forty. I find it extraordinary that they CANNOT do these things. In the past of THIS NATION a generalist such as myself was quite common. Look up the concept of the "competent man" on wikipedia.

from wikipedia:"The competent man or competent woman is a stock character who can do anything perfectly". Alrighty, if you say so. Wikipedia this: "megalomania". You look that up too, XO. And yes, you're right, this isn't the place to argue about how "anarcho capitalism is a bunch of bullshit. I'll do that later, when I have time. Have a good one : )
Kbiomech (January 3, 2008 at 4:08 am)
Not the first time I've been called a megalomaniac (grin). But more to the point, the quote from Heinlein's character was more the point. The idea that a man should be able to do a wide range of things WELL, rather than being highly specialized.

Actually, youtube this: "re: re: v-tech" & click on xo's vid. I briefly point out how "Ancap" is crap. If I didn't have to worry about pissing off clients that do watch this ytube crap, I would save time & just make a video. Maybe I'll hire somebody to do it. Need a job? ;-)
Kbiomech (January 3, 2008 at 4:29 am)
I'd take the job if you weren't completely opposed to nearly everything I believe in, though based on your comments we do have SOME common ground. Not much though. You can disguise yourself...
