Eckhart Tolle on Being Yourself
BackCome face to face with Eckhart Tolle, for a transformational meeting with this respected teacher and influential author. In clear language, Eckhart explains the process of entering the "miraculous" state of presence that is always available to us. We are lost, he says, in the maze of our own compulsive thoughts.

His ideas are very much like Jiddu Krishnamurti's....hmm

Ideas are just ideas. What is reality?

There's really no such thing as "reality" since all of us are delusional :) My "reality" may not be yours, but it doesn't make either right or wrong

What part of us recognises " delusional" ? Is the seer delusional too? I find J K interesting but I think he had a very finely polished ego and talked too much, like most of us.

From a Zen quote: " When the ordinary man attains knowledge, he is a sage; when a sage attains understanding, he is an ordinary man." Enlightened people are ordinary people. Not perfect, but who cares?

For those of you that are criticizing Tolle, he's a mix of carl jung, joseph campbell, and eastern philosophy. Carl Jung and Joseph Campbell are amongst the most brilliant minds of the 20th century. Tolle is right on point, he's not just talking out of his ass.

Sufism is a fine example of finding truth in various religions and philosophies . . . The first great Sufi was Hallaj. He was martyred when he denounced religious hypocrisy and urged men to discover truth for themselves. Later, the mystical teachings of El Ghazzali made him a chief philosopher. But the most famous Sufi of all was the poet Omar Khayyam, whose Rubaiyat rises to lofty heights of beauty.
In other words, listen to Tolle and others, but find your own insights.

Eckhart puts me in the mood to plant a tree, but having planted a few I need more than 4 minutes please!
Protecting and enhancing that false sense of self then becomes your primary motivating force.
Tolle - Beautiful!
