With all the editing, interpreting and downright fabricating of so-called "scripture" particularly in the 4th century Rome,
it is astounding that people don't doubt one teensy weensy
little bit its VERACITY. It is astounding until you factor in the NEED to believe and the desire to be SPECIAL.

"Then was fulfilled [by Jesus] that which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet..." (Matthew 27:9)

It was Zechariah, not Jeremy, who made that prophecy. See (Zechariah 11:12)

"...that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, He [Jesus] shall be called a Nazarene." (Matthew 2:23)

There is no mention by the Old Testament prophets that Jesus would be called a Nazarene. God was often confused when writing the Bible.

"How else do you explain fulfilled prophesy?"
Easy. A little tweak here a little lie there. Forgery , insertion, editing. In fact many of the so called fullfilled prophesies don't stand up to investigation too well. The early Catholic bishops were proud and boastful of their lies . They'd say anything to enhance their power over Rome.

haldor72. Impose a fascist theocracy? Where did that come from? I'm just saying that Jesus actually is the prophesied Messiah of the Old Testament, the only way to be reconciled with the One Who created this universe. If you disagree with that, your argumnent is not with me. I'm not some fanatic Jesus freak, I simply believe His claims about Himself.

Eckhart is a remarkable man. He isn't claiming to be a religious leader or a substitute for Jesus. I have no interest in calling myself a Christian or belonging to any Abrahamic religion. Neither do I blindly follow Tolle or anyone else. We make our choices in life. Would you take away that right? Would you impose a fascist theocracy?

farcanal29. I don't have a particular version of Jesus. I just accept what He says about Himself.

The Bible WAS written by men, inspired by the Holy Spirit. How else do you explain fulfilled prophesy?
2000 years ago, Jihn wrote of a time when no man will buy or sell, unless he has the mark of the Beast. The technology for that is here, now. What will you say when you are required to take that mark?

haldor72. Jesus repeatedly proved that He was not a mere human.
He came to tell us that He is the fulfillment of His Father's plan for a Messiah.
The jews sought to kill Him because He claimed that He and His Father are one.

haldor72. All through the New Testament, Jesus communicated His divinity.
I just gave you some examples.

haldor72. Jesus is the acceptable sacrifice from God, for sin. That's why He came. He goes on to say in 14;29 " and now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, you might believe." While Jesus was on Earth, He did only as His Father told him. He never says he is not God. The charge of blasphemy is what got Him curcified. He said I and the Father are one. The jews were enraged by that, and wanted Him dead.
