Cambodia Intercultural Exchange in Couples and Family Therap
BackWe are writing to extend a special invitation for you to participate in an international professional and cultural program to Cambodia in December 2008. We believe you would contribute valued expertise to the mission, while also gaining immeasurably from the experience. Invitations for this group are being sent only to select members of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy and other professionals known to us.
Cambodia is one two of the most exhilarating places in the world today. Although often remembered in the west through the lens of war. It is actually a lands filled with natural beauty and majestic relics of ancient civilizations. Today age-old traditions converge with modern life in a setting you are sure to find wondrous. From its highlands to the rainforest regions, you will discover a warm and joyful society, where family and honor play a meaningful role.
The goal of this 10-day exchange program is to explore issues of marriage and family life in Cambodia, including traditional and innovative methods of intervention. Our group will meet with our professional counterparts at the Royal University of Phnom Penh and participating community agency representatives and professionals. During the trip we will share information, develop relationships, and foster a bilateral cultural exchange of ideas.
Our group will meet at Phnom Penh International Airport (PNH) in Cambodia on December 13, 2008. During this 10-day exchange program, we will travel to Siem Reap, Cambodia as part of the cultural exchange. Activities will include visits to historical and cultural sites for an opportunity to explore many aspects of Cambodian life, culture, and customs.
We invite you to bring an accompanying spouse or guest as well. The program cost per participant or guest is $2,500 USD. This program cost includes group transportation, meetings and cultural activities, accommodations, most meals, and essentially all other costs associated with participation. You are responsible for roundtrip airfare from your departure city to Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
Due to the extensive planning and communication involved in coordinating a program of this nature, we ask that you respond with your intentions regarding this invitation no later than July 30, 2008. Space is limited, as we are intentionally keeping our group size small. We hope to hear from you whether you are able to join our group or not.
We are pleased to be involved in this exciting opportunity, and hope you will strongly consider participating. In the meantime, please feel free to contact us at (541) 895-5868 or e-mail Dr. Miller at oregonmiller@yahoo.com or Dr. Platt at plattjason@hotmail.com
