It makes you want to go practice and quit at the same time.

makes us non-prodigy music majors feel pretty insignificant. :)

Exceptional performance of a challenging piece. Mr. Kurtz captures well the etherealness of Franck's magnum opus for the piano, a rather underappreciated work. I may prefer this over Evgeny Kissin's studio version.

If you read my comments below you will see what the definition is of an amateur. Some people are multi-talented and have other professions as well as being outstanding pianists.

Would someone like to explain as to why this man is considered an "amateur?" Something is very wrong here and it is not Mr. Kurtz. I wonder who perpetrated this notion? [Please enlighten yourself and look up the definition of 'amateur.']

I knew all of that. All the more reason to hold many of those 'professionals' accountable for their often lower-than-'professional' level of playing. If the only distinction is that 'professional' means 'gets paid', then I have no use for 'professionals'. I know many such people, and they are usually full of themselves.
