Athol Fugard, the distinguished South African playwright, has written Boesman and Lena, Sizwe Bansi is Dead, A Lesson from Aloes, and Master Harold and the Boys, among other acclaimed plays. He recently completed a play about Hildegard of Bingen, a twelfth century German abbess, mystic, naturalist, composer, and author, who is considered one of the most remarkable women of the medieval period.
