We just had an excellent morning at the Kilns with Malissa, current head resident, & a most knowledgable & gracious hostess. We discussed themes my daughter had just explored reading Lewis for a semester at Oxford.
Sad a housing developement now surrounds the once secluded house. But inside, as the video shows, one can feel that it was a homey house. I rather pictured Jack & company as hobbits, more fond of the daily comforts of kitchen, pipe, & book, than ambitous or socially conscious.
