The excellent Shakespearean actor Joss Ackland has recorded a reading of The Screwtape Letters. He sounds exactly as the demon uncle should sound, without going over the top. Look for it on CDs at amazon.

Matter of taste. I think Miracles is a masterful exposition of philosophical convictions and, on the fiction side, I find A Pilgrim's Regress marvellous. The "outdated" genre of the allegorical novel brought to life once more. Not as obscure as the critics, and Lewis himself, have maintained. And anyway, an allegory should leave some things to the intuitive interpretation of the reader (Lewis' glosses added later spoil it a bit actually)

"I find A Pilgrim's Regress marvellous" I consider it a must read and a primer if you are to really understand lewis. I loved that book. Its been my favorite thus far. It changed how I view so many things.

no, protestant believe in the historical-grammatical exegesis of the Bible, it may seem that we worship the Bible, but we really are yearning for a deeper understanding of God's wonderful inerrant Word. the apostles encourage us to understand His words in Titus 1:9 Paul says we should be of "sound doctrine" to encourage those like minded and refute those opposed.

I don't think it means anything...just supposed to sound profound.
