The longer I am a Christian and the older I get the more this movie makes sense to me and the less offended I am at the duality of this preacher. It is a compelling film and nobody does it better than Duvall.

I like movies with real people, and not these shallow, imperfect perfectionist plastic lined/coated perfect (false) teeth celebrities who think they're so beautiful. This is the real world!

This is one of the best movies ever made. I love Robert Duvall. My mother used to me take to churches like these. Its all I ever knew about church was the "Shouting Preachers". A very realistic movie.

I really love this movie. I can relate to it better than going to church! It touches my heart in a way, that i cant explain.

The interaction with the officer was perfect. A lesser director would have tried to get something more pointed out of that exchange, but it was so real the way it just petered out with "is 'at right?" - he was at odds with Sonny, but not willing to go all into it. Perfect. So few films do this at all. This film does it over and over. I'd forgotten how perfectly crafted this film is.
