Yeah, the South was hypocritical (not!). Ever read the Gettysburg Address? It's the one where Lincoln said something about a government for the people, by the people, etc. I always wondered why folks don't catch the blatant hypocrisy in that worthless document. The Confederacy was elected by the same kind of electorate that chose Lincoln: White men. Lincoln destroyed a democracy to save it? (And found a great excuse in slavery).Of course Ol' Abe never let truth get in the way of his politics.

Hense why I said, feared slavery may be outlawed in General. There was a growing resentment towards slavery. Wasn't a fact it would be removed. You care not really to read what I type if you didn't catch that word "feared" didn't mean it would happen, though it was likely perhaps sometime in the future. I stated the main reason was the lose of political power they feared, Election of Lincoln was proof because he wasn't the person the souther states wanted to be president.

yes I understood that but it wasnt about slavery the major concern against slavery didnt really take affect until Lincoln issued the emancipation proclimation yes the south was concerned obviously it was there economical backbone but the south argued to peacibley give up slavery long before secession if the north would help the textile industry develop in southen states giving the south something other than slave labor the request was ignored however giving another reason for secesion

Not exactly true, the South was getting a mass migration of Irish who willingly fought for the South when the war broke out because of the fear freed slaves would compete with their already under paid jobs. South was pretty wealthy, planations lived on even after the war was over, but with paid workers of course under paid workers, but the Irish really never flocked after the war because it was too under paid even worse than what they were being paid. Can't say they didn't have workers.
