BBC Six O'clock News - April 1996
BackAnna Ford and Andrew Harvey present a BBC six o'clock news bulletin in April 1996. This came from a virtual studio, first seen in 1993. Almost everything on screen is computer generated. In reality, only a small desk and backdrop existed, but, together with the cut glass titles, were made to look huge.

What's that "screen" where the ident and the titles are coming. I don't get that. It's so confuse. Can someone tell me.

The opener was mostly computer generated. Only the small area where the news readers were sitting was real.

we should leave the european union

You can imagine Mr Boring John Major saying, 'People who think we can leave the European Union are living in cloud cuckoo land.' Then pulling that stupid expression and getting that applause as if he's made some sort of really cool joke. The European union is rapidly becoming a dictatorship BUT in the current economic climate, we need a strong voice in the world rather than a few dozen countries with only a small voice.

Get the 1993-1999 music back! The 1999-present music
is idiotic!

Totally agree, the current music is hideous. Although one point I must argue, beep beep beep beep beep beep beep.

I was 7 when this was aired :O But yeah I totally agree with you, that music sounds has so much authority. The beeping music is just....gah, and when you listen to the parody that Bill Bailey made, it makes it even more ridiculous!

The new music is supposed to sound like jungle drums beating out the news to the nation. It is also part of the BBC political correctness policy. BBC news is crap now a days. They latch on to a nothing story and milk it to death. Sky news is far better..!! Make the BBC pay to view and do away with the poor value for money licence fee..!!
