Some ideas are the result of thought and planning and others simply hit you in a burst of inspiration. VidMission.com is one of those flashes. I tried to let it burn in the background while I got my act together, but another voice kept insisting "Launch! Launch! Launch!"
Online Video - A New Cultural Influence
Video is already the next big thing online, and the battle for decency is on. Video hosting sites are replete with movies from every extreme of our culture. Today's generation grabs the code from these sites and share them on social networking sites like MySpace, Hi5, FaceBook, and Friendster. These videos sometimes become "viral", snowballing in popularity. Outlaws, thieves, harlots, drunkards and tramps abound in this new wild west.
Capturing the World at its Best
At VidMission I hope for each category of video to become a mission of hope and inspiration, great stories, clean laughs, portrayals of the wonders of nature and accomplishments of people. I want to see people doing wonderful things, discover hometown treasures and secrets... in short see all that is right with this world, seeking decent fun, enlightenment and entertainment, only looking at disasters with an eye toward compassion.
Spiritual Messages
I've enjoyed the services of a couple great churches online the past few years (Ginghamsburg United Methodist and Renaissance Unity) and even though they have tremendous facilities I saw what a struggle it was for them to establish dependable video content for their site. Those churches now have fabulous online services that I can experience from anywhere there is an internet connection. I'm hoping to provide through VidMission a way for other growing churches to reach beyond their communities.
